One of the essential idnpoker concepts that novice players should know is the importance of their position at the table. The term position does not refer to your seat at the table, but your position in relation to the button. So, learn them at a glance.
The positions at the poker table
- Button (dealer): It is the reference point of the hand. The button rotates clockwise, passing from player to player each hand. The button also dictates the order in which players take their actions.

The three hands in poker
Premium Hand
Premium hands are the best hands in Hold’em. These are the hands in which, in at least 95% of the situations, you must be willing to bet everything pre-flop. The only hands in this group are AA, KK, QQ and AK.
Strong Hand
Strong hands vary widely, some of which are very close to the premium ones. These are hands that are virtually always in a 3-bet range. The best hands in this group are JJ, 10-10 and AQ. However, hands like AJ, A10, KQ and 99 are also considered strong.
Playable Hand
